There's something really cool, and also something kind of depressing, about being Matador's worst selling artist of all time. Dead Meadow hold that title. Why they hold it has nothing to do with them sucking. In fact, I think it's quite the opposite. Actually, to be honest, I'm not really sure what the hell is going on these days. I guess people would rather listen to weak shit like Pretty Girls Make Graves. NOT ME MAN! I'll take Dead Meadow's Sabbathy boogie jams over what's hot now any day! These dudes have put out four full lengths, a live record and a bootleg of their BBC sessions, all of which have gone virtually unnoticed. Here's a jam off their BBC session bootleg, check it out. travis, i recorded this session at Fugazi's old practice space... was pretty last minute yet alot of fun. I was happy that John Peel commented in his oh so british voice "great period recording". Made me happy. I made a point to approach the session organically as I heard alot of peel sessions are done lacadaisically by uninterested engineers at the BBC at times. I am going to post my favorite Dead Meadow moment later in full übermusicnerd fashion. One day I will convince them to record on this island in sweden where Bo Hansson created his magic... it will happen.

There are tons of other bands that have been on Matador that have total record sales numbering in the double digits. What about Bunny Brains or Ten Foot Flame?

this is the first dead meadow song i've ever heard. i press play and the song starts and i think "man, this is pretty cool. i wonder why the vocals are going to do. i'm feeling some reverb drenched robert plant style vox." and just as i thought that, it happened! i like this. the production on this is great.
