There's not that many good new bands these days (or maybe I just don't know of them yet), so I figured I'd pull out an old record that's rad for today. I was gonna post something off "Use Your Illusion II" by Guns N' Roses, but I figured that not too many people would feel that and it would just bum everyone out. So instead I settled on "Flipper's "Sex Bomb Baby", which is a punk classic in my book as it should be in yours too. I ain't talking bout the tv dolphin Flipper, I'm talking bout the speed freaks who played sloppy fucked up music and wrote killer tunes like "Sex Bomb Baby", "Sacrifice", "Ha Ha Ha Ha" and "Love Canal". Someone told me that if you went to a Flipper show back in the day you were up for two weeks afterwards cuz they sold everyone speed. Sounds like a dirty party to me. Turn this shit up loud.

I heard that the "Generic" album is being reissued this year, which gives me a raging hard-on. Great band, but incredibly hard to find considering how solid they were.

Has there ever been a band since to turn their shows into wild drug romps AND play great music? I'm thinking I've never been to a good show now.

personally --> shotgun blues from G'N'R. any song that has axl singing, "you, you can suck my ass, I think you're so low class" gets my vote. at least I _think_ that's how the lyric goes....doin' this from memory... then again there's also "civil war" (an old song with steven adler on drums, I believe) which has one of Slash's best wah performances . . . damn, looking at the track listing on allmusic and there's a crapload of great songs on this album! you want to step into my world, it's such a psychotic state of bliss.. *lol* oh god is that song horrible.

I first listened to Flipper because Kurt Cobain liked them and they were the first "weird" or "underground" (or whatever you want to call them) band that I understood - although it took me a while. That road lead to The Stooges then my head exploded.

Flipper was (well Will was , into heroin) The rest of the band would be gratefull if you gave THEM some speed. They were broke so i doubt they sold crank.
Flipper suffered for their music...now it's YOUR turn.
