I love this first Adolescents record! Young, snotty, pissed, bratty, aggressive, and full of teenage angst! I mean, what's not to like? It's so Orange County/Los Angeles in the early 1980's that there's no way this record could have been made anywhere else or at any other moment in time. Yet these songs still sound relevant today... "L.A. Girl" and "Creatures" are the two jams I like the most. You can't really beat lyrics like... "I'm not accepted by my peers - so what! I could care less about the queers - they're fucked!" This record is hitsville! It makes me wanna start flipping the bird way more. If you dig on this record, also pick up their "The Complete Demos 1980-1986". Oh and get this... the dude who plays guitar on this, Rikk Agnew, went on to play on Christian Death's - "Only Theatre of Pain". Now I'm gonna go down the street and stuff my face with some killer fish tacos. Southern California rules!

I have fond memories from high school of playing volleyball with cute girls while listening to "Amoeba" on a boom box. Ahh, O.C. punk!

Growing up in OC this was our soundtrack to skating around fucking shit up. Although I was realy hoping you would post the song "No Friends", the song "LA Girl" is good enough. This record never gets old and is still better than any hardcore punk record that has come out of OC. Well Zack De La Roacha's "Inside Out" was pretty badass.

I know this is unrelated to the post, but I was searching on amazon and came across a Stooges box set called Heavy Liquid. I was just wondering if anyone had any info if it was good or not, cuz the Fun House Sessions are out of print.

Does anyone remember that horrid band (Maybe they still are a band) called Manic Hispanic who covered "Amoeba" (it was called "Amigos" if i'm not mistaken).
This band brings back old memories of surfing and watching ...Lost videos.

Ummm...the cover or redo was called "Amigos," Manic Hispanic are still together (they just had a new CD come out called Grupo Sexo) and their shtick is taking classic punk songs and putting a "vato" spin on them...
The punch line here is Steve Soto, original member of The Adolescents and playing in the current Adolescents line up, is a member of Manic Hispanic...
(insert suspenseful music stab here...)
