Tv On The Radio - "Dry Drunk Emperor"
I woke up this morning to find this brand new Tv On The Radio song in my email inbox, so I figured I'd better share it with all of you. They wrote it for those affected by Hurricane Katrina and it's free for you to enjoy. Please pass it around.
(Download - "Dry Drunk Emperor")
A Gift To You From TV On The Radio
"we ( tvotr ) were back in the studio thinking and feeling again and made this song for all our everybody... in the absence of a true leader we must not forget that we are still together.... hearts are sick ... minds must change ... it is our hope that this song inspires, comforts, fosters courage, and reminds us... this darkness cannot last if we work together. let us help each other... heal each other.... look after one another ... the human heart is our new capitol.... this song is for you.... us..... we.... them... it is free. pass it on."
baby boy
dieing under hot desert sun,
watch your colours run.
did you believe the lie they told you,
that christ would lead the way
and in a matter of days
hand us victory?
did you buy the bull they sold you,
that the bullets and the bombs
and all the strong arms
would bring home security?
all eyes upon
dry drunk emperor
gold cross cross jock skull and bones
mocking smile,
he's been
standing naked for a while!
get him gone, get him gone, get him gone!!
and bring all the thieves to trial.
end their promise
end their dream
watch it turn to steam
rising to the nose of some cross legged god
gog of magog
end times sort of thing.
oh unmentionable disgrace
shield the childrens faces
as all the monied apes
display unimaginably poor taste
in a scramble for mastery.
atta' boy get em with your gun
till mr. mega ton
tells us when we've won
or
what we're gonna leave undone.
all eyes upon
dry drunk emperor
gold cross jock skull and bones
mocking smile,
he's been
naked for a while.
get him gone, get him gone, get him gone!!!
and bring all his thieves to trial.
what if all the fathers and the sons
went marching with their guns
drawn on washington.
that would seal the deal,
show if it was real,
this supposed freedom.
what if all the bleeding hearts
took it on themselves
to make a brand new start.
organs pumpin on their sleeves,
paint murals on the white house
feed the leaders L.S.D
grab your fife and drum,
grab yor gold baton
and let's meet on the lawn,
shut down this hypocrisy.

hehe nice lyrics

I saw Kyp Malone do some random solo show where I live and he sang about cocksuckers and pimps and bears. That pretty much summarizes why this band is amazing. Thanks for sharing this.

Posted by: chris | Friday, September 09, 2005 at 08:37 AM
They are really clever. I like smart lyrics. I hope they become famous because they are so good. I bet they are all bottoms.

yeah Chris. I hate liberal bands, wish more bands were like Slayer and into Nazism and stuff, who cares about poor people who've lost everything???

i just got an e-mail from an ex making fun of me cause i wear "high water" jeans, never shave, and live with my parents. it almost upset me. yeah, i figured there would be more songs like this after the hurricane and war and stuff.

"another liberal band. boring" ....."slayer and nazism". This site's readers never fail to entertain.
The thing is: fuckdom beyond belief in Usa's politics. God lyrics, good warm attitude in the song. But i don't really like their music.
Hey, we want more Dave Clifford posts!

Posted by: Biff | Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 09:50 AM
What's with all the praise of Modest Mouse? They're completely mediocre at best. Like Albini said of the pixies, they're boring college rock.
Posted by: Michael | Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 12:58 PM
Eh. I'll always love the first few Pixies albums. Modest Mouse does pretty much blow though.
Posted by: Andrew | Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 10:39 PM
I actually meant to clarify: Pixies = good
Modest Mouse = boring college-rock with annoying vocals.
Posted by: Michael | Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 11:23 PM
Hey, Modest Mouse was pretty decent when they were called Built to Spill.
Posted by: Andrew | Thursday, September 15, 2005 at 12:03 AM
Of course, Albini also fronted a band called *ahem*...Rapeman.
Posted by: Nick | Thursday, September 15, 2005 at 12:11 PM
Yeah but Rapeman wouldn't wipe their ass with Modest Mouse's top-notch music.
And their name (Rapeman) was taken from a chinese comic book-superhero, it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, as most Albini stuff is, and they didn't play wimpy indie-emo-shit.
Posted by: Michael | Friday, September 16, 2005 at 10:09 AM
YAY for buzzsaw guitars!
Posted by: zahc | Friday, September 16, 2005 at 08:19 PM
Japanese comicbook, but who cares right? Japanese, Chinese - they all look the same those damn asians....
gotta love Americans and their casual racism.
Posted by: Lightnin' Hopkins | Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 01:37 AM
I'm sorry lightnin' hopkins, i actually thought it was chinese, my bad.
Posted by: Michael | Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 11:24 AM

Posted by: andy | Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 12:17 PM
i love asians. dip it in the soy sauce. that's what i always say.
this song is really pretty.

Dude you need to chill out, pick up a dictionary and get a life... In whatever order you please, I'm not a facist or anything.
Posted by: zahc | Monday, September 19, 2005 at 09:28 AM
Should travis be posting a new song every hour on the hour for you poop? Maybe he's not making too many new posts cause there's not too much good new music coming out; which would explain all the oldies popping up on this blog.
Posted by: Michael | Monday, September 19, 2005 at 10:19 AM
Yeah but you're mostly just all full of shit. Now quit wining. And don't bother trying to tell me what a tool I am because you'll just be further proving that you have no life.
Posted by: Nick | Monday, September 19, 2005 at 01:38 PM
Yo keller isn't what I'd call fat dawg. And you're a real dork if all you do is look forward to jacking off to Travis Keller's latest writing/music posts. Let me guess, you're a boy that goes to Crossroads or Windward Highschool?
Posted by: antichrist | Monday, September 19, 2005 at 09:30 PM
well well. look who came for Travis's help? oh yeah it's his crowd of fucking fans who he butt fuck's all day! please pepole,do you think that now maybe he whould answer your little fucking e-mails,or call you up in his posts as part of the buddyhead fag's army?
and for you Michael you little dork. I didnt mean that shit about new music but there is plenty of old music that is great (I see I have to make a "special" remark for you you ADD drunk)and not only JAMC and DYlan and the liat goes on. or even not so old like spiritualized and primel scream which he posted like 3 or 4 times. I figure he just dont know what else to put here and he is too afraid to look like a dork with a lame post so he is sticking with the one's that are great.

ADD drunk? "Special Remark"? Fag army? I don't send travis e-mails, i simply appreciate the website. What is windward high school? What the fuck is going on with you people?
Posted by: Michael | Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 01:40 PM
I think poop just has a real big crush on Travis Keller. I don't check this thing often enough to care, clearly "poop" has way too much time on his hands to give a shit about how often Keller posts.
Windward and Crossroads are these two pretentious private 30-grand-a year (yeah, dude $30,000 for a year of high school,) high schools in Santa Monica, the rich part of LA. I didn't grow up in LA, so I can't really give you the inside story, but my ex girlfriend goes to Crossroads, and she used to tell me how all the dudes she hung out with at school were super into Buddyhead, and into Travis Keller. She used to joke about how they probably jacked off to his "gossip" or what have you, they idolized him so much. That's why I asked if our buddy "poop" went to one of those two schools, if he was one of the hip indi rock kids dudes in a shitty high school band.

this is funny considering all these comments about ass fucking travis for not posting anything new are all contained within a blog for a posting that's only 10 days old.
why don't you get off your lazy asses and help out the sight... upload some content?
and what's all this talk about highschool and fags? easy there homophobes, you're steroids are showing...
