The Locust's Justin Pearson on Jerry Springer
Part 2
« January 2007 | Main | March 2007 »
I'm feelin' this song right now... I swear there's something in the air. It's either that or Andy Weatherall and his band, Two Lone Swordsmen, are reading my mind again. "No Girl In My Plan" is gonna be coming out soon on their new record called "Wrong Meeting" (which is killer by the way). if you didn't check out the last full length "From the Double Gone Chapel" you might wanna get on that immediately, they cover The Gun Club's - "Sex Beat". These guy win.
(Download - "No Girl In My Plan")
More blah blah... Andy also just put out a solo record called "The Bullet Catcher's Apprentice" on the label Rotter's Golf Club, click here to buy it. If anyone's got that email me, I haven't heard it and I'm broke. Do it. Also hit up http://myspace.com/twoloneswordsmen.
Happy fuckin' Saturday... I'm in a killer mood and I'm pretty sure it's due to the french press coffee.
Here's a youtube clip previewing snippets from the new Queens record... it's really short but if I remember correctly Aaron told me he was still able to burn rope to it. It's gonna be called Era Vulgaris which if you move all the letters around spells Rad Vagina... I think. It's gonna be DROPPING in record stores on June 7th and from what I heard they're doing it hip hop style with guest spots galore... expect to hear Julian Casablancas from The Strokers, Trent Reznor from a small band named NIN, Mark Lanegan from the Screaming Trees and um.... Queens Of The Stone Age and Billy Gibbons from ZZ top in some form on the new record. I'm hoping for a killer bee type song with all of em that kinda sounds like "Triumph" by Wu tang Clan. That song was killer and I don't even like hip hop. Fuck I miss Ol' Dirty. Anyways, hit QOTSA dudes on the web at www.myspace.com/queensofthestoneage and www.qotsa.com.
My friend Sam asked me if I'd heard this Rod Stewart covers record he recorded in 1998. Of course I hadn't... but to my pleasant surprise when I did Rod turns out some pretty killer covers of "Cigarettes and Alcohol" by Oasis and "Rocks" by Primal Scream. Rod takes those songs and makes em his own. Rod rules. He also covers The Faces song "Oh-La-La" which he never got to sing cuz his disco career was taking off and homeboy didn't come into the studio. Totally worth the $2 bucks youre gonna pay for this when you find it in the used bin. DO IT!

Also, as of today you can stream two songs from the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club record "Baby 81", which I've heard and it's going to be one of the best records of 2007. It fuckin' smokes... hit up their website @ http://www.blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com/ to stream "Weapon of Choice" and "666 Conducer".
Speaking of Oasis.. Lily Allen can't party with Liam... click here.
Start the countdown cuz the Cassettes are heading out on a good old fashion American tour in two days! They'll even be busking on the street in some cities and selling Cassettes tea at their merch booth! When was the last time you heard of a band doing that? I can't wait til they hit LA... If you haven't checked them out yet, download the two tracks below. You can get their new cd 'Neath The Pale Moon from your local record store or from one of the online services below. You might wanna also pick up the reissue (with bonus tracks) of their second record O'er The Mountain which features members of Dead Meadow as the backing band. The singer of The Cassettes, Shelby, produced their first two records. But the DM dudes aren't in the band anymore, it's a full new and improved lineup now... for more on The Cassettes visit their myspace page @ http://myspace.com/thecassettes, their website @ http://www.thecassettes.com/ and Wikipedia page @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cassettes.

Oasis won the Award for Outstanding Contribution To Music. Check out the drummer of the Chili Peps (or is that WIll Ferrell?) losing his mind to "Cigarettes And Alcohol". Shit yeah.

Andy Bell from Ride is now in Oasis... you like how it all comes back to Oasis? Speaking of Oasis, check out this kid butching a little single you might have heard of called "THE HINDU TIMES". It's a bummer.
Some kid "covering" The Hindu Times
Oh since today is covers day or something... here's The Raconteurs covering The Undertones "Teenage Kicks" live at Rock City, Nottingham (2006-10-23). How come Jack White's super cool and super rich yet he still dresses like a total retard? You'd think either he'd figure it out by now or he'd hire someone to figure it out for him...

Shat's also on tour right now in America. Shat across the USA. I have to mention that here as well cuz if I don't Jeff Wood calls me 400 times today crying about how we don't ever promote Shat. There's also a good chance he could possibly hurt me once he gets to LA.... with that in mind... Jeff Will be on the Red Peters show on the Howard Stern 101 station (Sirus radio) tonight at 7pm, if anyone can record it and send it to me somehow that'd be tits. Check out Shat's myspace @ http://myspace.com/shatband for tour dates and songs and their website @ http://jeffwoodofshat.com/ for way too much Shat info. Try and make it out to a live show of this band... you've never seen anything like it... I promise.
I had a long drive today so on the way out the door I grabbed a stack of cds, one of them just happened to pull out The Abbey Road EP by Spiritualized which I haven't listened to in a long time. I forgot how good this little nugget is. I guess Jason "Spaceman" Pierce has recovered from his near fatal case of Pneumonia and is currently making (or has already has made) a new record and it'll be out "early 2007"... can't wait for that. I haven't seen it yet, but from what I hear there's an interview with Jason about recording the new album in the new Mojo with The Beatles on the cover. Shit yeah! So here you go... three tracks from it and a few later era videos that rule the school too. Jason's girlfriend (or wife or life partner or whatever he calls her) made em. " Sometimes have my breakfast right off of a mirror and sometimes I have it right out of a bottle... Come on!" Yeah!
