I'm back in lovely LA after a week in Austin, Texas for South By Southwest. It was good to get away and it's good to be home. One thing I can't get out of my mind from texas... I'm dying to know how to make a Bloody Guinness. I'm pretty sure it's a Texas thing... either way, the Bloody Guinness blew my mind. Anyone have the recipe handy? Hook me up...
As for music... I haven't been listening to much that's new besides the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club record "Baby 81" cuz it's so fuckin' good. Stream a couple songs on their site @ http://www.blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com/. I can't post any songs from it cuz I'll get in trouble so instead here's a few songs from a show the band did in Seattle for the radio station KEXP @ The Tripple Door on 03/19/06.

Yep, I'm off to TexASS for free beer, bands I don't really care to see, people form Los Angeles I care to see even less and some sweaty humid weather! Fuck yeah! And as you can see by this flyer Travis Millard made us...
Buddyhead is doing a showcase with our friends Coldsweat Records, you might wanna check them out. If you're gonna be out there in the middle of the butthole of America like we are and know of cool shit to do or just wanna hook up and buy us beers, email me at traviskeller@gmail.com. In the meantime.. here are a few songs to chew on...

I've posted about how much I like The Duke Spirit here numerous times (heck we even put em on our Best Of list way back in 2004) and this new EP of covers only makes me like them even more. The band really Mazzy Stars it up on this one and they've hand picked some killer tunes to cover (Desmond Dekker's "007 (Shanty Town)", Jessie Mae Hemphill’s "I’m So Glad" and "A House Is Not A Motel" & "A Message To A Pretty" from the late Arthur Lee's band Love) and made them their own. They only released this baby digitally (and only in Europe from what I can tell) on Rough Trade but if you can get your hands on it... do it. The word on the street is that they may be headed over here soon to jump into the studio to record with Chris Goss... sounds killer to me. Hit their myspace for more info and whatever else. Oh two more thing... First, someone posted on here a few times asking me if I like any girl musicians... here's your answer dude. Secondly, my angry beer gut has vanished cuz I watched The Secret. You might wanna get into it.
The 4th installment of The Cassettes podcast! A special "tourcast" edition whilst the band is on tour. This 4th installment of The Cassettes Radio Hour captures the band in the midst of their travels and includes a live acoustic performance at the Art Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana in a mid-sized chamber. The tourcast also features esoteric readings by The Cassettes' Stephen Guidry.
