I don't know much about these guys aside from the fact that they made one of the best records so far this year. Ok wait up, I do know a few more things about em that'll fill up some space on this page... I heard they are Canadians, eh? Take off hoser! Which makes me think that Nardwuar is probably really stoked on them (he loves good bands from Canada like DOA). I also heard that they are all in some sort of hippy dippy "art collective", which I hope doesn't mean they play hacky sack. I fucking hate that hacky sack bullshit. The ass-grabbers that are into that shit are always wearing those stupid birkenstock sandals and those big retarded hats that look like hackey sack themselves. Well, hacky or no hacky, these dudes made a bitchin' record that came out on a label called Jagjaguwar. Check that shit out for sures. It sounds very non-contemporary (which is a good thing) and eludes to influences such as Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Can, Funkadelic and dare I say James Brown? It's not as good as any of that shit (in fact that reminds me I've got to post a Funkadelic song), but it's about the best anyone is gonna do today. I haven't seen these guys live yet (has anyone reading this seen em play?), but unless I get real stoned and forget about the show, I'm going to go check them out when they roll through LA next time. Bet on it biotch. Tour dates and the like are on their website dudes, so peep that shit. Oh yeah, and a bunch of different people will be writing for this page real soon so you won't have to read my bullshit all the time.

this shit is pretty weak... you cannot take the most famous lyric from THE MOST FAMOUS ROCK SONG EVER!!!!("I can't get no satisfaction")and expect to get away with it (Plus be Canadian on top of that). I have the whole album, and it sounds like a mishmash of the influences Travis said in his post. With that said, it is still better than most other shit that came out this year.

Oh, i forgot to mention, they cop the most famous lyric and pass it off AS THEIR CHORUS!!!!! So it's not just some random lyric where they said "i can't get no satisfaction". Oh no, they base the entire song around that lyric, kinda like someone did 40 years ago. Fucking Canadians.

black mountain rules. i saw them in san francisco about two weeks ago and it was the only show ive ever seen where the opening band (out of four, no less) stole the show. in fact, the order in which the bands played (black mountain, oneida, comets on fire, and fucking champs) determined how good their shows were. bought the album, got high and listened to it all week. pretty fucking good.

i like this. good mixture of good classic rock bands. i heard a single of theirs (bicycle man) and thought it was ok. this is better in my opinion. they might rip off something but then again so did led zeppelin... it wasn't really famous but still. the sad thing is as far as a live show goes i'll probably never see them here not to mention the indie stores here probably won't get the album in for a while.

RAWK ALBUM OF 2005 (SO FAR...). The best part of the album are the killer chick back-up vocals.

yO michael you are wack, black mountain didn't steal rolling stones song, the song is get no satisfaction, and not once do they say "I CANT GET NO SATISFACTION" so whatever, and plus the song is way far from a rolling stones song. so eat a bag of poo.

Yeah, I saw these guys live here in Ottawa and they OWNED. It was rad. They don't move around much, but I think that's excusable with the amount of weed these guys must go through. I interviewed Amber and Josh for my magazine. (The interview's not up yet, so don't anybody try to call bullshit on me; The Standard Issue Trainwreck is the best fucking magazine in the world (no offence, Buddyhead) and we work on our own damn time. There IS a review of this album up though.)
This whole "music blog" thing is a rad idea, Travis. Good on ya.
