I don't know much about Unkle, aside from that song they did with Thom Yorke a few years back with the crazy bum video, but their new record sounds like it might be worth checking out. According to Wikipedia their new record is due out July 24th in North America, will be called "War Stories" and feature the likes of Josh Homme, Chris Goss, Ian Astbury, some dude from Massive Attack, Autolux and The Duke Spirit. Sounds alright, right? I think so. If this track called "May Day" featuring The Duke Spirit that someone emailed me sounds anything like the rest of the record, I'm right again! Woo! Check it out.

Speaking of The Duke Spirit... they are on this side of the ocean (they hail from that little island with the shitty food called United Kingdom) recording their new full length with Chris Goss out in the desert. The band recently just played an amazing show at Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace that blew minds and have now decided to bring their rock back to the city of LA on June 12th @ Spaceland (yeah, I know... the only bummer is you gotta go to Silverlake). Oh, and the Duke Spirit have the coolest website of any band out there as far as I'm concerned. Might as well hit their myspace for some tunes and videos... they've got plenty of em!
Also, seeing as how I've been on a movie kick lately... what do you cats think this new Transformers movie is gonna be like? Is it gonna blow? Or is it gonna be a good big dumb action movie like I hope it is? I mean at least this chick is in it. Let's hear some predictions... Also, anyone seen any good flicks lately?
Oh... and if anyone has the soundtrack to American Psycho... email me.
that new UNKLE track sounds great, she has a great voice. the chorus sounds pretty kick ass too.
i loved "rabbit in your headlights" with thom york you are talking about from last century. cool video, with the indestructible bum that turns into light or something.
the transformers movie is an analogy for what could happen if the us ever meets a force more technologicaly advanced than its own and how it would be totally fucked. the movie looks like a special effects extravaganza, if i were to go see it i would make sure to get really drunk and wear a sombrero and shout at the screen about what an immoral abortion it is.
i watched boyz in the hood on sunday. increase the peace. that was good. they didnt have any russ meyer movies...

Hey Travis,
I noticed The Duke Spirit is playing Spaceland 6/12 which is QOTSA's record release date.
Are the Queens gonna play too?
Need the 411. Another chance to plug your badass bass boy...

Transformers movie hmmm, tough, umm may be ok, but like most, some movies off TV show or comics, some, were good and some were bad,( I actually think it may suck plot wise, meaning it may have sequels ending, but good graphics). I foresee a voltron movie next, or a strawberry shortcake live action in the future… I kidd, but hey never underestimate the movie makers.
The music was cool once again thanks for the share

Even IF the new transformers movie is good, it will not measure up to the animated movie from the 80's or whatever.
Orson Welles's Dying Role. No Joke. Sad.
Watch it blazed and you will not be dissappointed (there is a scene where they start a dance circle for no reason, and yes, they get out the robot)

New Transformers film will suck because of one reason. Michael Bay is directing. He is one of the worst directors out there and needs to be put down because of all the shitty films he's made. I watched The LAst King of Scotland last night and enjoyed that. Knocked Up is pretty funny, so you might want to check that out.

Half Nelson is good if you like movies about crack.

The Transformers movie will look stunning, but that's about it. Story-wise, I'd rather watch Robot Chicken.

I think the Transformers movie is going to be jackass. Id second the Knocked Up recommendation. Its pretty funny and there are some good one liners in it.

hey i dont know how you feel about reading, but if you get American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis it has even more brutal killing, separate chapters that are dedicated to getting all deep about huey lewis etc. and theres a shitload of crazy sex they don't include in the movie. so much better than the movie.

knocked up was really great. watch it with a group of guys and girls. it's funny how the two sexes laugh and get audibly angry (but in a good way) at different parts and then all together. and, of course, be high.
and travis, i know you like richard ashcroft... he did guest vocals on the last unkle record. but maybe you already knew that. pretty legit song; it's called "lonely soul."
alright, gotta go return some video tapes...

that Transformers trailer is kind of cool until Tyrese yells "Bring It!" and completely ruins the movie for EVERYONE

Is Van Halen's You Got the Touch going to be in it like the animated movie?
Posted by: Alex | Wednesday, June 06, 2007 at 01:49 PM
god i hope so.
The transformers song isn't. Niether is soundwave.

See Hot Fuzz if you still can. It's from the guys who made Shawn Of The Dead and it's hilarious.

what's with the strokes shirt in the trailer?
michael bay gets paid out in entourage. 'nuff said.
unkle on the other hand = awesomecore.

i think that new transformers movie is going to be independence day meets a car commercial. yawn. (and no jeff goldblum, for shame!) it's no original cartoon movie, that's for sure. now that is a classic in all cinema, right there. judd nelson does not fuck around. and robert stack?! c'mon kids!

Also, about Unkle, the album Psyence Fiction was him and DJ Shadow. So if you're into DJ Shadow at all I'd check that out.

Yeah, that UNKLE song is good. The Duke Spirit have also apparently been added to the QOTSA/EODM show at the OC Fair in July. Nice. Oh, and Transformers looks lame beyond belief so it should make at least $70 million in 3 days

It seems like everything The Duke Spirit plays on turns into fuckin gold. This new Unkle song is no exception. It's a rad song.

I saw a preview the other day and have absolutely no interest in seeing this movie.

Unkle's Rabbit in the Headlights might just be more disturbing than American Pyscho -
Unkle + Dukes are a wonderful combo.
